Twitter anticipates the US elections with changes targeting misleading content

The social networking company Twitter said in a tweet, today, Friday, that it “will introduce new measures before the upcoming US presidential elections in November next” with the aim of increasing content and encouraging more thoughtful considerations before the tweets are amplified.
The company said, “The social media platform will not allow followers on Twitter, including political candidates, to claim victory in the elections before verifying the vote result, and tweets that interfere with the electoral process will be removed.”

Twitter will add additional labels and restrictions to any posts, including those from election campaigns and candidates, that contain misleading information.

Also, Twitter will make it difficult for people to re-send tweets to others without adding their own comments, which requires an additional step that will encourage users to add their own ideas before sharing other people’s ideas.
