Anemia

It is known in English as (Anemia), a disease that affects the blood, and leads to a decrease in the number of red blood cells in it, which distribute oxygen within the body. Anemia is linked to a set of factors that affect the patient permanently or temporarily, depending on the nature of the life he lives, and the quality of food that he depends on.

Types of anemia

Anemia has a group of types, including:

  • Iron anemia: It is the most common type of anemia, and it results when the patient loses the appropriate percentage of iron concentration in his blood, and is treated by providing the patient with iron, and organizing diets.
  • Hemolytic anemia: It is a disorder that affects the blood as a result of a significant decrease in the number of red blood cells, exceeding the ability of the spleen to produce them, and its treatment requires immediate medical intervention, and may depend on a surgical operation for the patient to treat the spleen.
  • Sickle-cell anemia: It is transmitted through genetics, and it leads to a change in the shape of red blood cells, and causes them to stick together, so they cannot perform their function of transporting oxygen, and this type of anemia needs quick medical treatment.

Causes of anemia

There are a number of causes that lead to anemia, including:

  • Vitamin deficiency: The lack of some types of vitamins in the human body leads to anemia, including: Vitamin B12.
  • Lack of iron in the blood: It is one of the most influential reasons; When the percentage of iron production in the blood decreases, this leads to anemia, which may result in other diseases.
  • Surgical operations: The loss of a large amount of blood due to an operation may be a major factor in developing anemia.
  • Infection with diseases: Some diseases affect the human body and lead to anemia, such as: kidney failure, and also the use of some types of drugs in large doses leads to anemia.
  • Heredity: Genetic factors may cause poor blood production within the body, which is a direct cause of anemia.
  • Unbalanced diet: People who suffer from malnutrition, especially those who avoid eating meat, cause anemia to a large extent.

Symptoms of anemia

The person with anemia shows symptoms that determine the nature of the injury, which helps to know the appropriate way to treat anemia, and these symptoms include:

  • general fatigue;
  • Irregular heart function.
  • feeling short of breath
  • Dizziness
  • Headache injury.

Anemia treatment

When treating anemia, the doctor examines the patient clinically, monitors the symptoms appearing on him, and orders a blood test to determine its degree, and the rate of red blood cells in it, in order to identify the type of anemia that the patient suffers from, and prescribe an appropriate diet for the patient that contains mainly nutrients Beneficial for the body, especially iron, and drugs that help stimulate red blood cells and increase their production, and surgery may be resorted to in severe disease cases.
