The reward for Umrah in Ramadan

It was narrated in the Sahih on the authority of the Prophet – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – that he said:[1] He explained the saying of the Prophet – peace be upon him – that the reward for the pilgrim is doubled during the days of Ramadan until he reaches the reward of Hajj, but it does not suffice for the obligatory Hajj, and the multiplication of the reward is caused by the confluence of the virtue of Umrah with the virtue of the month of Ramadan. .[2]

The sayings of scholars about the Umrah of Ramadan

Some scholars have argued that doubling the reward for Umrah in Ramadan was only for the woman to whom the Prophet – peace be upon him – addressed the speech. third saying; It is the complete reward for the pilgrim in Ramadan and attains the reward of the pilgrim. This is indicated by several things, including:[3]

  • The hadith of the Prophet – peace be upon him – was reported on the authority of a group of companions – may God be pleased with them.
  • People work with the content of the Prophet’s hadith, including: the scholars, the righteous predecessors, and those who advanced among them, as it is noticeable that people are keen to perform Umrah in Ramadan more than others.

How to perform Umrah

Umrah is performed by doing four main things; They are: Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’i between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah, and breaking out of Ihram. The following is a description of each of them in some detail:[4]

  • Ihram, and the intention of the pilgrim is to go to the Sacred House with the intention of Umrah, start by washing and applying perfume, then put on the Ihram clothes, and begin with the Talbiyah.
  • Tawaf around the House if the pilgrim enters the Sacred House of God, beginning and ending with the Black Stone.
  • Sa’i between As-Safa and Al-Marwah after the Tawaf, starting with Al-Safa and ending with Al-Marwah.
