The Renault Arcana was first revealed in August 2018 as a show car. The coupe crossover has also been present on the Russian market since May of last year.
Arcana was also launched in South Korea in February of this year as Samsung XM3. Now, Renault has officially announced that Arkana will arrive in European markets from the first half of 2021.
The Renault Arcana 2021 in Europe looks exactly like the specification Korean model (excluding the decals) and is based on the CMFB modular platform, which has been shared with the latest Clio and Captur models.
Moreover, it will be manufactured alongside the XM3 at a plant, Busan, South Korea.
There are a number of very important differences between the Russian spec model and the new European spec Arcana. First, the latter has a more refined appearance thanks to the new RSLine package.
Additionally, there is a wide range of customization options with the new Color Pack.
The interior was also more elegant, as it got a vertical screen like a tablet for the infotainment system. The fully digital instrument cluster is available in 4.2, 7 or 10.2 inch versions, depending on the model.
Despite its coupeSUV shape, the Arcana offers ample storage space of 18.1 cubic feet (513 liters) for the nonhybrid variants.
In contrast, the Arkana in Russia is powered by a 1.3liter turbo gas engine. The European spec model benefits from Renault’s latest hybrid powertrain.
These versions include 140 hp and 160 hp from the 1.3 TCe engine, paired with a dualclutch automatic gearbox. In addition to the ETech Hybrid 140 already available on Clio, Captur and Megane.
The French carmaker says the latter system is: “A new system that has been the subject of more than 150 patents and is based on the group’s expertise in electric cars and the F1”
For his part, Director of the Arcana Program, Francois Laurent, commented: “The Arcana is another example of how modernity and innovation is rooted in the Renault genes. They are hybrids at all levels. ”
He continued, “It perfectly combines the blades of a coupe and an SUV, combining responsiveness and versatility. The car brings new momentum to the mainstream compact SUV segment, which is the core of the European market. ”
