Potato balls with bechamel

the components

  • A medium-sized onion cut into rings.
  • Four potatoes, cut into circles.
  • Three tablespoons of butter.
  • Salt and black pepper – to taste.
  • Three tablespoons of flour.
  • Two cups of milk.
  • One and a half cups of cheddar cheese.

How to prepare

  • Preheat the oven to two hundred degrees Celsius, put a layer of potato circles at the bottom of a tray greased with butter, and distribute the onions over it, then put a second layer of potatoes, and season with salt and black pepper.
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the flour, half a teaspoon of salt, then beat the ingredients with a clamp for a minute.
  • Then add the milk, and whisk the mixture constantly until the béchamel sauce becomes thicker, then add the cheese and stir with the sauce until it melts.
  • Pour the bechamel over the potatoes, spread the cheese over it, cover the tray with tin foil and bake for an hour and a half in the oven.

  • A clove of crushed garlic.
  • A medium sized can of corn.
  • Three large pieces of minced chicken fillet.
  • A medium sized green bell pepper, chopped.
  • Two large carrots, grated.
  • Half a teaspoon of mixed spice.
  • A cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  • A quarter cup of chopped parsley.
  • ¼ teaspoon of black pepper.

Béchamel ingredients

  • Two tablespoons of each: butter, corn oil.
  • Four cups of milk.
  • Half a cup of flour.
  • Half a teaspoon of salt.
  • A teaspoon of oregano.

How to prepare

  • Cover the potatoes with water and boil over a medium heat until they are tender, then drain the water and immerse again in cold water, and peel the potatoes when they become warm.
  • Mash the potatoes while they are warm, then add salt, black pepper, and butter, then put them in an oven tray.
  • Prepare the filling by frying the chicken and garlic in a frying pan over a medium heat in the oil until the chicken is browned.
  • Add carrots, sweet pepper, corn, parsley, salt and black pepper, and stir for one to two minutes.
  • Spread the chicken mixture over the mashed potatoes, and add the cheddar cheese on top.
  • Roast the flour with oil and butter in a saucepan over a medium heat, then add the milk and oregano, stirring constantly, to obtain a smooth and homogeneous bechamel sauce.
  • Pour the béchamel over the chicken mixture, and roast it in a hot oven at a temperature of one hundred and eighty degrees until it turns golden.
