How to prepare:

  • Wash and dry the turnips, then cut them into square or lengthwise pieces, and put them with the beetroot in a glass jar.
  • Pour an appropriate amount of water into the jar to cover three quarters of it.
  • Add salt and vinegar, then seal the jar and put it in a dark place for about two weeks.

Pickled turnip with garlic

the ingredients:

  • Three cups of water or the equivalent of seven hundred and fifty ml of it.
  • A third of a cup of coarse salt, or the equivalent of seventy grams of it.
  • Laurel leaf.
  • A cup of white vinegar, or the equivalent of two hundred and fifty ml of it.
  • 1 kg turnip, washed and cut into strips.
  • A small beet.
  • Three cloves of garlic, peeled and cut into strips.

How to prepare:

  • Submerge a third of the capacity of a frying pan with water.
  • Put the pan on the fire, then add the bay leaf and salt, stir until the salt crystals dissolve, then set it aside.
  • Add the remaining amount of water and vinegar to the water after it cools a little.
  • Cut the beets into long strips, then put them in a glass bowl.
  • Add garlic and turnip slices to the beets.
  • Pour the salt water into the jar, cover it, and put it in the refrigerator or a cool place for a week.

Pickled carrots and turnips

the ingredients:

  • Three medium and peeled carrots.
  • One medium peeled turnip.
  • Small spoon of salt.
  • A quarter cup of sugar.
  • A glass of lukewarm water.
  • Half a cup of white vinegar.

How to prepare:

  • Cut the carrots and turnip into thin slices.
  • Sprinkle salt on the slices of turnip and carrots, then stir them with your fingertips until you notice some water coming out of them, which increases the softness of the slices, and makes them able to absorb the vinegar mixture.
  • Rinse the slices in cold water, then drain and put them in a glass bowl.
  • Mix vinegar, warm water, and sugar in a deep bowl until the sugar dissolves.
  • Pour the vinegar mixture over the turnips and carrots until completely submerged, then seal the jar, and leave it in the refrigerator for at least two hours before using it.
