Side effects of the prolactin test

In rare cases, the vein from which the blood sample was drawn may become infected after conducting the analysis, and this condition is called (phlebitis), and it can be treated using warm compresses that are placed on the site of infection several times a day, and some people may feel dizzy, or Fainting after the exam. Some people may also have a small bruise at the site used to draw the blood sample. Therefore, pressure should be applied to the area where the sample was drawn for a few minutes after the syringe is removed. To reduce exposure to bruises, and in the case of bleeding disorders, the patient may experience continuous bleeding, and the doctor must be informed if he takes blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin, and others before conducting the analysis.[3]

Significance of high prolactin

The rise of the prolactin hormone is considered normal during pregnancy and after childbirth, but its rise in men and women in a normal state indicates the presence of internal problems; The hormone may rise due to exposure to common stresses, such as exposure to light forms of disturbance, or practicing sports activities, in addition to high blood sugar levels, and its levels may rise due to infection with some diseases; Such as diseases of the liver, kidneys, thyroid gland problems, and pituitary tumors, and taking some types of medications may lead to an increase in the hormone as well, in addition to taking some types of herbs, such as fenugreek, fennel, and red clover.[3]
