Microsoft launches a tool to recover deleted files

There is no doubt that you once found yourself in a critical situation when you permanently deleted files accidentally, tried to recover them, and began searching for some deleted file recovery programs that vary in effectiveness, as well as they are often paid. Microsoft wants to save the situation, at least for some types of documents, with Windows File Recovery.

Windows File Recovery is a new command line application from Microsoft that allows you to recover deleted documents and files, from disk storage and memory cards to flash memory.

The application should be used immediately after the wrong deletion event occurs to raise the possibility of file retrieval, and the application supports MP4 video files, MP3 music, electronic ebooks PDFs, JPEG images and zip files, as well as Office suite package documents of various kinds.

By default, the application supports NTFS file system restore, but it can be modified to support FAT.exFAT, ReFS, but it may take longer.

It is noteworthy that Windows 10 supports the previous version feature, which allows to recover deleted files, provided that the file history feature is activated by default.

Windows File Recovery is available for free download via the Microsoft App Store.
