Biscuits are sweets that have their origins in Western countries, specifically France. The word biscuit means (baked twice) in French, and what distinguishes it most is its sweet taste and crunchy texture, in addition to the possibility of preparing it in multiple ways and flavors; Such as: chocolate, butter, cinnamon, and raisins, and in this article we will learn how to make cinnamon biscuits at home.

Making cinnamon biscuits

the components

  • Half a cup of unsalted butter.
  • Three quarters of a cup of sugar.
  • Three teaspoons of lite corn syrup.
  • an egg.
  • A quarter of a tablespoon of baking soda.
  • pinch of salt.
  • A quarter of a tablespoon of finely ground cinnamon powder.
  • A quarter of a tablespoon of finely ground ginger.
  • A pinch of mixed spice.
  • A pinch of finely ground cloves.
  • One and a half cups of flour.

How to prepare

  • Mix butter, sugar, lite corn syrup, egg, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and mixed spices in an electric mixer on a medium setting.
  • Gradually add the flour, mixing continuously for half a minute.
  • Put the dough on a nylon bag, and spread it with the bag, not using the fingers of the hand, to form it in the form of a disk.
  • Cover the dough, and put it in the refrigerator for at least half an hour.
  • Heat the oven on a medium heat, leave it aside, until use, and cover the oven tray with butter paper.
  • Put the dough on a hard board sprinkled with a small amount of flour, stretch it well, and cut it using the cutter as preferred.
  • Arrange the biscuits in the tray, taking care to leave a space between each piece.
  • Put the tray into the preheated oven for at least ten minutes, until the biscuits are browned.
  • Remove the tray from the oven, and leave it for ten minutes, until it cools completely, then cut the biscuits.

Making cinnamon and almond biscuits

  • Two and three quarters of the flour.
  • A pinch of baking soda.
  • pinch of salt.
  • a cup of butter.
  • Three quarters of a cup of sugar.
  • Three eggs.
  • A tablespoon and a half of powdered milk.
  • One and a half tablespoons of cinnamon powder.
  • A pinch of ground cardamom.
  • Pinch of vanilla extract.
  • Pinch of almond extract.
  • A cup of crushed almonds.
  • ½ cup of unpeeled almonds, for garnish.

How to prepare

  • Mix the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cardamom, milk, and salt.
  • Put the butter and sugar in the electric mixer, and mix them for at least a minute, to get a cream-like mixture.
  • Add eggs, vanilla, and almond extract, and mix again.
  • Gradually pour in the flour mixture, mixing constantly.
  • Add the crushed almonds, and mix all the ingredients well, until fully cohesive.
  • Roll the resulting dough, put it in a special oven tray, and cover it with butter paper.
  • Put an unpeeled almond inside each ball.
  • Continue in the same manner, to finish all the quantity.
  • Put the tray into the preheated oven, and leave it for at least a quarter of an hour, until it is well cooked.
