Eid al-Fitr

Eid al-Fitr is the feast that comes immediately after the end of the month of Ramadan, in which Muslims celebrate the end of fasting, and it is also called the small feast, and it is celebrated during the first three days of the month of Shawwal,[1]And Eid al-Fitr comes in order to bring happiness and joy to the hearts of Muslims after their fulfillment of the obligations of God and their diligence in fasting.[2]

The feast is also an opportunity for kinship ties, visiting family and friends, recreation, and removing animosity and hatred between people. One of the purposes of the feast is also to enrich the poor and the needy, and to bring joy to their hearts and homes. Therefore, God prescribed zakat al-fitr.[2]

Eid al-Fitr etiquette

Eid has several etiquettes, including the following:[3][4]

  • It is preferable to say the takbeer in a loud voice in the streets and streets, as God Almighty said:[5] The takbeer is by repeating “God is great, God is great, God is great, God is great,” and “God is great, God is great, there is no god but God, God is great, praise be to God.”
  • Bathing, perfume and wearing the best clothes to go to the Eid prayer, which is performed by performing two rak’ahs in the first of which seven takbeers are said other than the Ihram takbeer, and in the second five takbeers before Al-Fatihah.
  • Accompanying children and women without exception, provided that the menstruating woman withdraws from the prayer hall at the time of prayer.
  • Eat some dates before going out for Eid Al-Fitr prayer, or eat something else.
  • Changing the route when returning from the mosque, i.e. returning from a route other than the one taken.
  • Listen to the sermon that after the Eid prayer.
  • Congratulate others, share holiday greetings, show joy and pleasure.

Eid mistakes

There are some mistakes that Muslims make on Eid, which must be avoided and refrained from, including the following:[3]

  • Collective zoom in the feast with one voice.
  • Women mixing with men in the streets, mosques, and other places.
  • Visiting graves on the days of Eid, and commemorating sorrows and funerals.
  • Excessive preparation for it, and paying large amounts of money to buy clothes, food and sweets in an exaggerated way.
  • Celebrating in forbidden ways, such as: going to nightclubs, amusement, and places of immorality and immorality.
  • Mixing with women in the markets and looking at their private parts.
