The devil is in the details :
At the outset, dear readers, we must agree on a basic point, which is that solving the problem may be ahead of us and it may be easier than we expect.
After you have determined the type of problem you are suffering from, for example, you may suffer from a problem getting sound through the microphone, or you may suffer from a problem of sound output from the computer. After you determine the type of problem, check the connections and connections for the audio output and input devices.
You may find one of the connections is broken or not installed well. Also, try the connection in another port or other device if it is available to make sure that the problem is not from our speaker.
It is also important to make sure that you have not muted Windows audio or closed the microphone completely, whether from controlling the system or through the physical buttons on audio devices, many times this step is to solve sound problems in Windows 10 with ease.
Windows 10 sound problems solution:
Now that we have identified the type of problem we are experiencing, if the sound is not output or not recorded from a microphone, we will now start trying to solve these problems one problem at a time.
Make sure to choose the right audio device:
You may think that you are using a headphone or audio device that you want the sound to output from, such as your headphones or your main headphones, but in reality you are using another device or depend on another device.
In fact, this also applies to sound recording devices such as the microphone and others, but at the beginning let’s talk about the method for determining the main device or the appropriate device for us to output the sound – headphones -.
The method is very easy, all you have to do is go to the speaker mark next to the clock and then press the speaker mark as you can see in the picture below:
From the box that will appear, click on the arrow up to show you all audio devices or devices capable of producing sound from your own device as you see:
Choose the audio device you want to use and in my case the speakers are connected to the sound card Sound Blaster Z
This method allows you to choose manually every time you want to use a different audio device. I prefer this method personally because it allows you to control the audio device as you wish and identify sound problems easily.
Choose the right microphone and make sure of its settings to solve sound problems:
Now we must make sure that we have chosen the appropriate microphone that we will rely on to record the sound, we will not only choose the microphone, but rather we will work to raise the quality of the sound recorded from it and make sure of all its settings.
To make sure of this, all you have to do is go to the Control Panel menu, then Hardware And Sound, then Sound as you can see in the image below:
When you click on the Sound menu, a window will appear, as you can see in the image below. From this image, click on the word Recording.
Inside the Recording tab, choose your main microphone that you always want to use, then click on the word Set Default
Next to the microphone, you’ll find something like a sound bar that moves if the microphone is working and picks up sound.
Now click on Properties to make sure that the recorded sound quality is up and that the microphone is working fine.

The first option that we will be working on is Advanced, click on it, then click on the drop-down menu and choose the last option in this list, which is the highest recording resolution that Windows can produce.
The second option that we want to adjust is the Levels option, which controls the audio capture level and the microphone sensitivity, of course if this level is set to 0 then you will not be able to capture any sound from the microphone.
Doodle with it a little until you find the right shade that you personally prefer.
Restart different audio services:
With this option, you can restart various Windows 10 audio services that may have some problems at times.
The method is very easy, click on the Windows sign on your keyboard and then type Services to show you the Services window, inside it search for three options:
- Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
- Windows Audio
- Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
Restart all of these options manually by pressing each service to select it, then right-clicking to open the service menu and then selecting the option to restart or run if it is completely stopped.
Control and reinstall audio drivers to solve sound problems in Windows 10:
In general, if the above methods do not work, then this may mean that there is a problem with the sound card drivers or the sound card, even if it is integrated into the motherboard like all cases.
To determine if the problem is from the drivers, we must first go to the drivers control interface through the Device Manger by searching for it by selecting the Windows menu so that the following list appears in front of us:
In the case of my computer, you will find a bunch of devices, including the built-in audio device for the Nvidia graphic card and the separate audio device that I have in addition to the audio device built into the motherboard, all of which work properly.
If you find a yellow mark next to any of these devices, this means that its description has a problem, and to solve it, click on it with the right mouse button to show you a list like the one in the picture below:
At first, try to press Update Driver to check whether or not there is a new update for your sound card, and if it does not solve this problem, press uninstall Device to completely delete the card and force Windows to re-discover it.
This step solves all sound problems in Windows 10, unless your sound card is damaged.
Today we have presented a set of the most important and comprehensive solutions to treat sound problems in Windows 10, if you suffer from a different problem or these steps do not work to solve this problem, try to send us your problem and we will work to solve it together, God willing.
