Qatayef ornaments are considered one of the most famous traditional Arab sweets that are offered in abundance in the blessed month of Ramadan. Abdul Malik in the ninety-eighth Hijri year, and the reason why this ornament was called Qatayef is because people used to gather it heavily in gatherings because of its good flavour.

Making Qatayef dough

the ingredients

  • A cup and three quarters of a cup of flour.
  • A cup and a quarter of a cup of water.
  • a tablespoon of sugar.
  • A teaspoon of yeast, and baking powder.
  • A small pinch of salt.

Diameter components:

  • Two cups of sugar.
  • a glass of water.
  • A tablespoon of lemon juice.

How to prepare

  • Put the flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder and salt in a deep bowl.
  • Add the water and mix the ingredients well until they are homogeneous and we get a liquid dough.
  • Cover the dough and leave it to ferment for at least an hour.
  • Heat a wide frying pan on the stove, and pour a small amount of the liquid dough so that it takes a circular shape.
  • Leave the katayef on a low heat until golden.
  • Repeat the process until the liquid dough runs out.

Diameter preparation:

  • Put sugar with water and lemon juice on the fire.
  • Stir the ingredients until combined, and remove the syrup from the heat when it thickens.
  • We stuff the Qatayef with the filling we want, then dip it in the syrup.

Qatayef work

  • a glass of milk;
  • Half a cup of water.
  • A teaspoon of yeast, and baking powder.
  • Half a teaspoon of salt.
  • tow big spoon of sugar.
  • Two cups of cream.
  • Half a cup of crushed pistachios.
  • A cup of ready-made syrup or syrup.

How to prepare

  • Put the flour, wheat flour, milk, water, baking powder, yeast, salt and sugar in a deep bowl.
  • Mix the ingredients well until we get a homogeneous mixture, then leave it for at least thirty minutes.
  • Put a frying pan on a medium heat, then pour a quantity of the mixture so that it takes the circular shape.
  • Leave the dough on the fire until bubbles appear on the face, then turn it over until it turns red on the other side.
  • Set the dough aside to cool, then repeat until the quantity runs out.
  • Close the two sides of the dough well with your hands, then fill the dough with a little cream.
  • Dip the qatayef in the pistachio nuts, then halve them in a dish, and pour the syrup over the face before serving.
  • Stuff the Qatayef with pistachios and walnuts as desired.
