Luqaimat

Known as Bulqmat al-Qadi or al-Awama, it is one of the well-known oriental sweets. It was first known in the Baghdadi cuisine, and then it reached many Arab and European countries. Its flavors, including: chocolate, nuts, cheese, and honey, are generally known for their ease of preparation, and in this article we will mention how to make Luqaimat, as well as how to make Luqaimat with cheese.

How to make luqaimat

the ingredients

  • Six cups of white flour.
  • Four teaspoons of yeast.
  • Four tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  • Small spoon of salt.
  • Four cups of vegetable oil for frying.
  • A cup of warm water.
  • Two teaspoons of white sugar.

  • Six cups of white sugar.

How to prepare

  • Dissolve yeast, sugar, and warm water in a bowl.
  • Put the flour in another bowl, add salt and oil to it.
  • Add the yeast and water mixture to the flour, and mix the ingredients together well.
  • Add warm water to the mixture, and mix again.
  • Cover the bowl with a suitable lid, and put it in a warm place to ferment.
  • Put sugar and water in a pot over a low heat, and leave the syrup until it boils, taking into account stirring it from time to time.
  • Reduce the heat, add lemon juice to the mixture, stir for two minutes, then remove it from the heat.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan, form the mixture into small balls, then fry them in the oil, taking care to stir.
  • We lift the bits of oil and dip them in the syrup.

Luqaimat with cheese

the ingredients

  • Two and a half cups of warm water.
  • Two teaspoons of sugar.
  • Two teaspoons of yeast.
  • Four cups of white flour.
  • Two teaspoons of salt.
  • Amount of vegetable oil for frying.
  • Quantity of square cheese.

How to prepare

  • Dissolve the sugar and yeast with warm water in a bowl, and leave the mixture aside for ten minutes.
  • Mix the salt and flour in another bowl.
  • Add the yeast and water mixture to the flour and salt, and mix the ingredients together well.
  • Cover the bowl well, and leave it for half an hour to ferment.
  • We take a teaspoon of the mixture, roll it up, then stuff it with a small amount of cheese, then form it into a ball, and repeat the process until the mixture is finished.
  • Heat the oil in a saucepan over a low heat, then place the balls in the oil.
  • We lift the balls from the oil, and serve them hot.
