  • Two cups of fine white sugar.
  • Half a kilogram of banana fruit.
  • Coarsely ground pistachios for garnish.

How to prepare

dough:

  • Rub the kunafa dough to break it up well, then mix it with three tablespoons of vegetable oil or ghee and form small balls from them and put them in a separate tray.
  • Grease the empty konafa tray with a little butter, vegetable oil or ghee.
  • Spread half of the kunafa dough at the bottom of the tray and distribute it well evenly, then press it with the palm of your hand until it holds together and takes a flat shape.
  • Cut three pods of fresh bananas in the form of equal circular rings, then distribute them over the previously rolled dough in the tray.
  • Put the remaining amount of the kunafa dough over the chopped banana, and press again on it with the palm of the hand until the thickness of the dough decreases and all the ingredients overlap and hold together well.
  • Put the ready-made kunafa dough into the oven at a temperature of 350 degrees Celsius, until its surface is red and golden in color.
  • Remove the tray from the oven and pour the cold syrup on it while it is hot, then leave it for about a quarter of an hour until the dough absorbs the syrup.
  • Sprinkle ground pistachios on top to add a grainy shape and delicious taste to the kunafa.
  • Cut the banana kunafa dough into square or triangular portions as desired, put them on serving plates and serve hot to the guests.
