How to prepare

  • We choose a large and hollow bowl, put the bicarbonate of soda and licorice powder in it, then mix them well.
  • Add half the amount of cold water, over the mixture, until we get a sticky mixture.
  • Put the mixture in a cloth envelope, and tie it tightly.
  • Put the envelope in a large bowl, containing the remaining amount of water.
  • We keep flipping the envelope from time to time, until the licorice powder dissolves completely, and it is worth noting that this process must be continued for at least six hours.
  • Strain the syrup well with a fine filter, then put it in a suitable jug.
  • Put the jug in the refrigerator until it cools completely.
  • We serve a glass of cold licorice syrup.

  • Remove the piece from the water, then squeeze it into another dish until it changes color and becomes brown.
