King Abdulaziz

King Abdulaziz Al Saud is responsible for establishing the modern Saudi state (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). He was born in the year 1873 AD or 1874 AD in the city of Riyadh. The rule of King Abdulaziz Al Saud lasted for about 52 years, and he died in 1953 AD in the Taif Governorate; Due to a heart attack caused by atherosclerosis, he was buried in the Oud Cemetery.[١] He had thirty-six sons, and twenty-seven daughters.[٢]

King Abdulaziz was known as Ibn Saud,[٣] As for his male sons, they are as follows, in order of age:[٤]

  • King Turki bin Abdulaziz: He was born in 1900 and died in 1919.
  • King Saud bin Abdulaziz: He was born in 1902 in Kuwait. He assumed the throne from November 12, 1953 AD to November 1, 1964 AD, and he died in 1969 AD.
  • King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz: He was born on April 9, 1906 AD, he assumed the throne of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1964 AD.

Contributions of King Abdul Aziz in building the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

King Abdulaziz was keen to make many efforts with the aim of establishing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and promoting its social, economic, administrative and political development. King Abdulaziz sought to bring the tribes together; By building the appropriate society that provides services to them and contributes to improving their living conditions. King Abdulaziz was also interested in preparing the principles and foundations that contribute to building the modern Saudi state, based on the honorable Sunnah of the Prophet and the teachings of Islamic Sharia.[٥]

King Abdulaziz concluded many important agreements with the countries of the world. King Abdulaziz was also interested in implementing the administrative organization within the Saudi state. He sought to join the Hejaz lands to the Kingdom, and was keen to provide appropriate support for the education sector; This led to the establishment of the Directorate of Knowledge in 1925 AD.[٥]

King Abdulaziz Achievements

The reign of King Abdul Aziz of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia witnessed several important achievements, and the following is information about a group of them:[١]

  • Contribute to the unification of a group of regions and regions within the Arabian Peninsula within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the year 1349 AH.
  • Establishment of the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the year 1365 AH.
  • Establishment of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1350 AH.
  • The establishment of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the year 1346 AH.
  • The first elections were held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the year 1343 AH.
  • The establishment of the Ministry of Communications in the year 1372 AH.
  • The establishment of the system of commercial courts in the year 1350 AH.
  • The establishment of the banking system in the year 1347 AH.
  • Establishment of a department specialized in Hajj in the year 1346 AH.
