General Motors produces electric trucks and flying taxis

General Motors announced a new step to strengthen its presence in the electric vehicle field, represented by the launch of its subsidiary “Bright Drop”, which will specialize in manufacturing electric trucks for delivery and logistics, while the company unveiled a “flying taxi” that will be produced in the future.
The announcement of the initiative at the annual Las Vegas show of electronics and technology came at a time when traditional automakers were trying to catch up with the huge growth of Tesla, a luxury electric car manufacturer.

General Motors will enter the logistics vehicle sector a few months after the online sales giant Amazon announced the first fully electric delivery vehicles, which are small trucks produced by the emerging company, Rivian, which is expected to see the light in 2022.

General Motors’ initiative met well on the New York Stock Exchange, as its share price jumped 6.2%.

Ultimately, General Motors aims to provide “an integrated system of electrical products, software and services.”

The company indicated that “Bright Drop EP1” will become available in “early 2021”, and it is without a driver and is used for short distances, with a large delivery container and can easily reach 90 kg.

The other vehicle to be provided by General Motors is the “Bright Drop EV600”, a truck with a capacity of 400 kilometers, and it works with the “Altium” battery developed by the manufacturer. This new vehicle will be available “by the end of 2021”.

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of Transportation Company, will be the first customer of this new vehicle.

On the other hand, “General Motors” revealed Tuesday the features of an electric and autonomous taxi that it intends to produce in the longer term, with which it will enter the race to produce flying cars.

According to a video of a hypothetical prototype of this car, it turns out that it can transport one passenger from the roof of a building to another, and take off and land vertically, at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour.
