  • Heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan set over a medium heat.

  • Put the onion circles dipped in the hot oil, and leave them for three minutes, fry until they change color.
  • We remove the rings from the oil, sprinkle them with black pepper and salt, and serve them hot on the table next to the main food dish.

  • Half a teaspoon of salt.
  • Two tablespoons of chopped fresh mint.
  • A quarter cup of American rice.
  • Two tablespoons of olive oil.
  • Two potatoes, cut into cubes.
  • A cup of boiling water.
  • Half a teaspoon of black pepper powder.
  • Two tablespoons of chopped green parsley.
  • Six onions.
  • A quarter of a teaspoon of turmeric.
  • Half a teaspoon of mixed spices.

How to prepare

  • Wash the rice well with water, then drain it.
  • Put the boiling water in a saucepan with the tamarind, and put it on medium heat for thirty minutes, then put the mixture aside.
  • We turn on the oven at a temperature of one hundred and eighty degrees Celsius.
  • We fill a pot with water and put it on the fire and leave it until it boils, then put the onions in it, and let it boil for ten minutes, until it becomes soft.
  • Set the onions aside on paper towels, and leave them to cool.
  • Cut the bottom of each onion so that we can install it inside the tray.
  • Cut one centimeter from the top of each onion, then remove it from the center slowly.
  • Finely chop the onion that we removed from the pods.
  • Put the chopped onions in a bowl, along with parsley, rice, potatoes, mint, and olive oil, then sprinkle with turmeric, salt, mixed spices and black pepper and mix by hand.
  • Stuff the onions with one and a half tablespoons of the prepared filling, then arrange the onions, one next to the other, in the tray.
  • Strain the tamarind liquid into a bowl through a strainer to get rid of any seeds.
  • We pour the liquid over the onions, then cover the tray with tin foil, and put the tray inside the oven for fifty minutes, or until the rice and potatoes are cooked.
