The Barcelona Mobile Expo, the leading annual forum in the telecommunications sector, will be held in a non-virtual attendance version between June 28 and July 1, organizers announced to AFP on Tuesday, after the event was canceled last year due to the pandemic.
A spokeswoman for the International Society of Telecommunications Operators, the organizer of the exhibition, which annually attracts about 100,000 participants, said, “We are organizing the event in presence in June and July.”
The Las Vegas Electronics Show, another notable event in the sector, was held last month in a completely virtualized version.
The spokeswoman added, “We are working to establish the Barcelona Telecom Exhibition 2021 in an atmosphere characterized by the greatest safety for all participants.”
And health safety measures will be revealed in the coming weeks, and they include “compulsory undergoing examinations and wearing masks, adhering to physical spacing, promoting hygiene and training.”
Spain remains one of the countries most affected by the pandemic in Europe, with about 68,000 deaths out of more than 3.1 million injuries, according to the latest official toll.
