Bakhmari

Al-Bakhmiri is a type of Yemeni sweets that are widely served in the blessed month of Ramadan, and it is one of the sweets that can be served at breakfast with a cup of tea. In this article, we will present you with a simple recipe for Bakhmari with different ingredients.

Preparing the Bakhmary dough

  • Three cups of white flour.
  • Half a cup of sugar.
  • one egg
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut powder (optional)
  • Half a cup of powdered milk.
  • A tablespoon of yeast.
  • Half a tablespoon of ground cardamom.
  • Half a tablespoon of ghee.
  • Half a tablespoon of black cumin.
  • A little water for kneading.

How to prepare

  • Put the flour, sugar, coconut powder, powdered milk, yeast, cardamom and nigella.
  • Add the eggs and ghee to the mixture, then gradually add the water, and knead the ingredients until you get a cohesive dough, then put them in a bowl and leave them for ten minutes for fermentation.
  • Roll the dough into circles, then place the balls on a surface sprinkled with a little flour, cover and leave for an hour to ferment again.
  • Roll out each ball, and fry in hot oil over a medium heat until browned.
  • Sprinkle the Bakhmari with icing sugar and serve.

  • Five cups of flour.

How to prepare

  • Put all the ingredients in a large bowl, then knead them with warm water until you get a homogeneous dough, then cover the bowl and set it aside until it ferments.
  • Roll the dough out on a clean surface greased with a little oil, then cut the dough into circles or squares as desired.
  • Heat a quantity of oil over a medium heat, then fry the bakhmari until golden brown.
  • Remove the Bakhmeri from the oil, drain, sprinkle with sugar and serve.

  • Roll out the dough, cut it into circles or triangles, then fry it.
  • Sprinkle the Bakhmari with powdered sugar, and serve.
