Akiki stated, in a statement, that “more than 18 people have been questioned so far, from officials of the Board of Directors of the Port of Beirut and the Customs Administration and those responsible for maintenance and implementers of these works in ward No. 12” where 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate was stored in addition to “ Flammable flammable materials and slow detonation cables”
He said that 16 of them were arrested pending an investigation”
This procedure coincided with the issuance of the Special Investigation Commission at the Banque du Liban to freeze accounts belonging directly or indirectly and to lift bank secrecy towards the judicial references of seven employees, including the current and former General Director of Customs.
