World – Europe
Although NATO has not officially confirmed this meeting, European media have assigned the same sources that the meeting will be held to analyze the implications of the US decision, which is expected to come into effect within six months.
A French diplomatic source pointed out that many European countries that were members of the treaty had asked Washington to remain there, and that the difficulties in implementing the treaty due to “Russian violations” do not warrant an American withdrawal.
It is noteworthy that this treaty, signed in 1992 and entered into force in 2002, currently includes 32 countries, and allows the monitoring of surveillance aircraft in the airspace of the participating countries in order to collect and share information.
