The Bahraini Foreign Ministry thanked the Sultanate of Oman for its efforts to “release Bahrainis detained in Qatar and facilitate their return to the Kingdom.”
She said that Qatar’s release of the sailors “reflects the spirit required to complete the treatment of the outstanding issues and to advance the march of the Gulf Cooperation Council.”
On Thursday, the Bahraini government announced that the Qatari authorities had released the three Bahraini sailors they had arrested last December. After entering its territorial waters without a permit.
The release of the Bahraini sailors, namely: Sami Ibrahim Al-Haddad and Muhammad Yusef Al-Dossary, in addition to the sailor Habib Abbas, came days after the announcement of the Gulf reconciliation.
It is noteworthy that the Sultanate of Oman has played a major role in pushing the historical Kuwaiti mediation to end the dispute between the Gulf factions.
